Sylvia is the first born of three siblings in their family. Sylvia became a partial orphan after her father died two years ago as a result of HIV AIDS. After that Sylvia was left with her mother as the breadwinner of the family, but her mother had also been infected with HIV/AIDS. Due to this situation the mother could not provide basic needs for the family. Sylvia was referred to Still Hope center by their head teacher who realized that she needed help badly. Sylvia is doing well in her studies and is finally looking forward to be a lecturer.
Tevanah is 8 years old. She is the fifth born in a family of six siblings. Her father died as a result of the family land dispute. The only mother left is little ability to support the entire family since she is also sickling. This has rendered her so vulnerable. She likes singing and citing poems. Vallary Samila is 11 years old. She is a total orphan who is living under the guardianship of an old grandmother, Linet Atieno Opiyo. She has other two siblings namely Blessings Odhiambo and Melvin Sandra. Her dream is to become a doctor when she grows up. She likes singing and playing soccer. Vanily is a partial orphan who is living under the care of her sick mother Judith Achieng. Her mother has been bed ridden for the past two years. She can neither walk nor work to provided for her family. Vanily’s father passed on in 2011 when she was only two years old. Currently being the only child, she is the one playing the role of the mother and father to provide for her sick mother. She has been missing classes in several occasions at school due to lack of money to pay for her exams. This is according to her teacher. She was referred to Still Hope by the local government official known as the chief. She likes singing and playing soccer too. Her prayer is to get someone who will lead her to her destiny.
Velma is the first born in a family of two. She is 16 yrs old in grade 6. She has a younger sister called Esther Ann. She has been raised by a single mother (BentaAdhiambo) who is living in abject poverty and jobless too. Her Father disappeared and abandoned them in the slams of Kisumu when she was 2 years. She actually can’t remember the face of her father. Our assessment revealed that Velma being a girl living in the slums characterized with early pregnancy, school drop outs, and poor healthcare was exposed to a lot of risks that would hinder her growth, education and personality. Her dream is to become a nurse one day. She likes singing, dancing and reading. Your monthly support will ensure that Velma gets good education, food and shelter. Above all she gets the opportunity to build her personality and to grow up in the knowledge and fear of God.
Vera is the second born in a family four children. She lost both her father and mother in the 2011 and 2013 respectively due to HIV/AIDS. Almost all the members of her dad’s family have died including three uncles because of the same disease. Currently she’s only left with one aunt that is taking care of her other three brothers. Vera is a very intelligent young girl, well-disciplined and most importantly born again. Her dream is to become a computer engineer in the future. Vera is also praying and waiting for that person who God will use to help her reach her destiny. Currently she is a resident at Still Hope Centre. She likes athletics, playing netball and singing.
Verah is the second born in a family of seven siblings. She is not an orphan but a very needy and vulnerable young girl, the daughter of one of the volunteers’ pastors at Still Hope Center. Both the parents are jobless and just peasant farmers. She was referred to the Centrer by one of the spiritual leaders in our church. Her dream is to become a teacher when she grows up. She likes singing, playing netball and fetching water. Her prayer is to find someone who can help her reach her destiny.
Boaz is an 9-year-old boy in grade three. He is the last born in a family of five siblings. He lost all his parents when he was less than 2 years. He currently living under the guardianship of Jully Akinyi, a well-wisher who is also battling with cervical cancer. His dream is to become a pilot one day by the grace of God.
