Wendy is not a total orphan but she is in desperate need for help. Both her parents are a live but mentally challenged. They are not able to care for Wendy as parents considering the fact that they just wonder in the village and local streets asking for food. One day her mother brought her to Still Hope Orphanage and dumped her there. We did a follow up to their home only to find an empty house with nothing except stones which were scattered all over the floor. We had no option but to keep her at the orphanage. Currently she’s going to school with other kids at Migwa primary School at grade two and she resides at the orphanage. Her dream is to become a school teacher one day. She likes dancing and singing. Whitney Achieng is an 13 year old girl from Masat sub-location in Ugenya. She has three siblings i.e. Bovine, Bazil and Bravian. She was defiled by her own father who was a drug addict. The matter was immediately reported at a police station and the father was arrested. Later he was convicted and jailed for 25 years. Her mother is jobless and they have just been surviving from aid from the Church. She is also disabled on her left side. She was attacked by polio when she was still young which lead to disability after suffering a stroke on her right side. Most of the time she was ridiculed at school and where they stay because of her condition. She was referred to Still by the Children’s department which handled her case in court. Whitney is a jovial young girl with an ever-smiling face. She is hoping to get a sponsor to support her to her destiny.

Winslet was born out of wedlock in 2009 when her mother dropped out of school due to early pregnancy. Her mother later became very sick which ended in a total mental incapacitation. She has been living under the care of the elderly grandmother who is a widow and also HIV positive. Currently Winslet is unable to go to school well since the condition of her grandmother has been worse day by day. She come from a very humble Christian background and she was referred to Still Hope the local government officer known as the chief. Winslet’s dream is to become a doctor one day. She likes singing and playing soccer.
