Due to that they were left with their mother as the sole provider of the family needs. Her mother is only doing small scale farming which cannot support or sustain the family needs. Lovine was referred to Still Hope through their chief who is the local government administrator of area where the center is situated. Lovine is doing well in her academic work. She loves singing and playing hopscotch with her fellows, and she hopes to be a teacher when she grows up.
Bradox is the second born in a family of three siblings. He was made a partial orphan after the death of his father seven years ago. Bradox was left with his mother who is just a peasant farmer and she cannot produce enough to sustain her family. He was referred to us through their area chief who knows the Still Hope center and its humanitarian care for vulnerable children. Bradox is among the home based children in our center, He is doing well in his studies and he would like to be a journalist after his studies. He loves playing soccer during his leisure time.
Emma joined Still hope in 2016. She is now a student at Masinde Muliro Univsersity of Technology and Agriculture. She is a very vulnerable child. Her mother was mentally incapacitated seven years ago. Her father has been sick and seriously bed-ridden for more than four years now. Emma being the first born in a family of four had dropped out of school so that she could look for a job. Their school headmistress heard about this and brought her to Still Hope. Now she has been in Still Hope for seven years and has been able to go to school normally. Emma is a very bright child always in top five of her class. However, she has not been lucky to get a sponsor. Her dream is to become a quantity surveyor one day God willing.
Felix is a son to the late Kennedy Odoyo and Judith Akoth. He’s a partial orphan who had lost his father and the mother is just a peasant farmer with five more children. Felix is a very bright boy who is always in top ten in his class. Still Hope assessment on his family revealed that Felix is very poor and vulnerable and deserved to be supported. He is a very disciplined and God-fearing boy with great potential in him. He just finished high school and he’s now waiting to join college in Feb 2023 His dream is to become an interior designer one day God willing. He likes singing and reading most of the time. He also plays soccer sometimes.
Sheryl is the first born in family of two whose father died when she was very young. She told us that the family of their father did not want their mother, after some period their uncles sent them and their mother away. They left home and came to the streets. They found an old abandoned house in the street where they took shelter, but after a while the mother got very sick. They had no money to treat her and that’s when she and her brother Jeff went to the streets to beg for food and money. Life became so harsh on them when their sick mother disappeared and abandoned them on the streets. To date they still don’t know the whereabouts of their mother. One day they came across a widow called Nereah who had sympathy on them and brought them to still hope. Sheryl loves singing, fetching water and reading story books; she also plays soccer. Her desire is to study hard in school to become a nurse when she grows up.
Lilian is a total orphan was born in a village known as Kagan West; she comes from a family of four siblings where she is the second born. She lost both her parents when she was 8 years old in 2012, and she was left under the guardianship of her grandmother who is a widow and cannot provide for her anymore. Lilian was referred to Still Hope center through their area chief. She likes storytelling and singing. She has finished high school and now waiting to join college next month. She is hoping to be a nurse; she is also praying to get a sponsor by God’s grace.

The minor is a partial orphan who live with his elderly grandmother who’s ailing thus unable to meet the basic needs as she is also taking care of Clinton’s ailing mother. His father who was the sole bread winner of the family died in 2012. He was referred to still hope orphanage home by their school head teacher who had once visited still hope. John is a partial orphan living under the guardianship of his mother who is sick and also drug addict. He joined still hope 7 years ago. His father died due to HIV/AIDS in 2003 when he was only three years old. We found Kirkwood in a very pathetic situation with no one to take good care of him. Even getting a daily meal according to him would come by chance. In most cases he used ask for food from the neighborhood. His mother drinks too much that she doesn’t care about him anymore. He was referred to still hope by their school head teacher who is a friend to still hope. Currently he’s in Form three at Saye Boys High School. Kirkwood's dream is to become a great teacher like his late father. He loves playing soccer, singing and reading story books. He’s also trusting God for a sponsor.
Dorothy is the first born in a family of three siblings. She is a partial orphan. Her father died in the year 2009 when she was a young kid. She was left with her mother who was sickling and could not provide for the family needs well, due to that situation. Dorothy became very sick when she was young that she could start school at the right time. she was referred to us by their church pastor who was aware of still hope and its care to the vulnerable children. Dorothy has just finished primary school and she is now waiting to join high school in February 2023.Her dream is to become a teacher one day so that she can also impact knowledge especially to vulnerable children in her community. she loves singing and athletic during her leisure time.
Meldah is the last born in a family of ten children. Her mother died when she was two years old. Her father is a very poor peasant farmer. Out their ten siblings four of them also have died in different situations. Their living condition is even worse than some orphans despite having a father. She joined Still hope 6 years ago and she is still trusting God to get a sponsor. Melda is a very bright young girl and she is always position one in her class with the best score. She is a very quiet girl but with a very sharp IQ. She says, one day she wants to be a doctor to treat many sick people in her village. She likes reading and praying and singing too.

Her parents’ names are Monica Okoyo and Peter Okoyo. Her father passed away on 23th February 2004 the same year she was born. It was so unfortunate that she didn’t see her father. Many a times she goes to look for a job in the village such as house maid, digging and fetching water for people in order to put food on the table. Since she joined Still hope she became the first child in her family ever to join high and now to university. Whitney Achieng is an eleven (11) year old girl from Masat sub-location in Ugenya. She has three siblings i.e. Bovine, Bazil and Bravian. She was defiled by her own father who was a drug addict. The matter was immediately reported at a police station and the father was arrested. Later he was convicted and jailed for 25 years. Her mother is jobless and they have just been surviving from aid from the Church. She is also disabled on her left side. She was attacked by polio when she was still young which lead to disability after suffering a stroke on her right side. Most of the time she was ridiculed at school and where they stay because of her condition. She was referred to Still by the Children’s department which handled her case in court. Whitney is a jovial young girl with an ever-smiling face. She is hoping to get a sponsor to support her to her destiny.
Dorothy is the first borne in a family of two siblings. His brother is called Vincent Otieno. Dorothy is under the guardianship of her father who is not able to provide or take care of the family due to some mental disorder. Her father is a strong drug addict and his condition has exposed Dorothy and Vincent to a lot of risks. Many times, they survive through well wishers who sometimes show compassion on them and offer them food. Sometimes they can go survive even on water a one when there’s no food. Vincent his brother is already sponsored at Still hope. She is a good fearing well behaved girl and with some support she can still make it in life. She never misses Church every Sunday. Benard is a 9-year-old boy from a small village called Gem. He’s a Total orphan who has been staying under the care of his elder brother Barack who’s 12 years old. After the death of their parents, the three decided to stay by themselves with the help of well-wishers. Live became very hard for them and Benard decided to leave home in search of his Aunty who was married in Oyugis. The police found him when he was stranded in the streets at a police station. After three days he was handed over to the children’s department who then brought him to Still hope orphanage. The police late confirmed through his former school that the boy was truly an orphan the children’s officer decided that should be placed in a children’s home for further assistance and care. Benard is a well-disciplined boy and God-fearing. Currently, he is at school and he’s hoping to get a sponsor.
Chrispine is the third born in a family of seven siblings. He lost both his parents and the year 2013 and 2014. Since then he has been under the guardianship of her step mother who is just a peasant farmer with other eight children of her own. He has been the best performing student in his previous primary grades. He’s very intelligent and good fearing. His hobbies are playing soccer and reading story books. Chrispine is unable to join high school at the moment despite the fact that he got very good grades in his primary. His prayer is to find someone who will hold his hands to his destiny.
Jeff is the last born in a family of two, his elder sister is called Sheryl Achieng, he was never lucky to see his father who died when Jeff was a little boy of 1yr old. Sheryl told us that the family of their father did not want their mother, after some period their uncles sent them and their mother away. They left home and came to the streets. They found one old abandoned house in the street where they took shelter, but after a while,the mother got very sick, they had no money to treat her and that’s when Jeff and his sister went to the streets to beg for food and money. One day as they were begging as usual they came across a woman called Neriah, a member of our Church who was running a small hotel in town. Neriah gave them food, showed them love, and told them to become every day whenever they need food. With time they became so used to Nereah but she could not live with them because she was also a widow with over six children. She came and told us about Jeff and Sheryl and that’s how we got them to still hope Centre. Jeff likes playing soccer, dancing, and singing too. He wants to be an engineer when he grows of age while Sheryl’s desired carrier is to be a nurse.
Winslet was born out of wedlock in 2009 when her mother dropped out of school due to early pregnancy. Her mother later became very sick which ended in a total mental incapacitation. She has been living under the care of the elderly grandmother who is a widow and also HIV positive. Currently Winslet is unable to go to school well since the condition of her grandmother has been worse day by day. She come from a very humble Christian background and she was referred to Still Hope the local government officer known as the chief. Winslet’s dream is to become a doctor one day. She likes singing and playing soccer.
Maxwel is a pupil at Aramo Primary school in grade four. He was born out of wedlock then later abandoned by his mother who dropped out of school in grade 8 when she conceived a baby. In 2016 his mother was found died in the streets of Kisumu. His father was never known. Since then he has been under the guardianship and care of his old grandmother who is very sick. Sharon and his brothers were rescued by the neighbors who heard the commotion and the cry. Since then Sharon has been under the guardianship of her grandmother who a widow and too old to provide for herself. Sharon was referred to Still hope by the principle of her school who had noticed her challenges. She is an average student with ability to do much better given and opportunity. Solomon is the second born in a family of two siblings He is 16 years old partial orphan. He lost his father when he was nine. His mother who is HIV/Aids positive is seriously sick and unable to take care of her family. Solomon has been living under the guardianship of his grandmother. He scored very good marks last year but could not join the high school of his merit because no one would pay for him school fees. So he decided to join a nearby day school whose standard is not very good. He had accumulated areas in the first and he was contemplating dropping out when schools resume in January next year. He is so talented in writing songs and singing, he is also a very good bible teacher and a footballer. His dream is to become a chemical Engineer or a lawyer one day. Wendy is not a total orphan but she is in desperate need for help. Both her parents are a live but mentally challenged. They are not able to care for Wendy as parents considering the fact that they just wonder in the village and local streets asking for food. One day her mother brought her to Still Hope Orphanage and dumped her there. We did a follow up to their home only to find an empty house with nothing except stones which were scattered all over the floor. We had no option but to keep her at the orphanage. Currently she’s going to school with other kids at Migwa primary School at grade two and she resides at the orphanage. Her dream is to become a school teacher one day. She likes dancing and singing. He is the last born in a family of three children. He’s a total orphan who currently under the care of his grandmother who is very old. He is in grade four at Nyalenda Primary School. His Father died on 25th Feb 2010 when he was barely two, while his mother died in June 2018. His two Elder sisters Marion and Sheilah had already been taken by still Hope in 2014. He has been faced by challenges such us lack of school fees, poor nutrition, clothing and shelter. He is a very bright boy both at school and back home. Velma is the first born in a family of two. She is 12 yrs old in grade 6. She has a younger sister called Esther Ann. She has been raised by a single mother (BentaAdhiambo) who is living in abject poverty and jobless too. Her Father disappeared and abandoned them in the slams of Kisumu when she was 2 years. She actually can’t remember the face of her father. Our assessment revealed that Velma being a girl living in the slums characterized with early pregnancy, school drop outs, and poor healthcare was exposed to a lot of risks that would hinder her growth, education and personality. Her dream is to become a nurse one day. She likes singing, dancing and reading. Your monthly support will ensure that Velma gets good education, food and shelter. Vanily is a partial orphan who is living under the care of her sick mother Judith Achieng. Her mother has been bed ridden for the past two years. She can neither walk nor work to provided for her family. Vanily’s father passed on in 2011 when she was only two years old. Currently being the only child, she is the one playing the role of the mother and father to provide for her sick mother. She has been missing classes in several occasions at school due to lack of money to pay for her exams. This is according to her teacher. She was referred to Still Hope by the local government official known as the chief. She likes singing and playing soccer too. Her prayer is to get someone who will lead her to her destiny.
Sheila was born out of wedlock in December 2011. Her late mother dropped out of school on primary grade six. She developed a serious complication after giving birth to Sheila and later died in October 2013. Since then Sheila has been leaving under the guardianship of elderly grandmother who is an old widow has an on and off sickness. Sheila is a very jovial bright girl who loves singing and dancing. Her dream is to become a teacher one day. She is trusting God for a sponsor who would help her achieve her dream of becoming a teacher.
Verah is the second born in a family of seven siblings. She is not an orphan but a very needy and vulnerable young girl, the daughter of one of the volunteers’ pastors at Still Hope Center. Both the parents are jobless and just peasant farmers. She was referred to the Centrer by one of the spiritual leaders in our church. Her dream is to become a teacher when she grows up. She likes singing, playing netball and fetching water. Her prayer is to find someone who can help her reach her destiny.

Roseline lost her father in 2003 when she was 1-year-old according to the mother. Currently she is staying with her widowed mother who is very poor; she was just doing odd jobs to provide for her family. Now the mother is ailing and cannot do any work to earn income because she is paralyzed on one side. Roseline came to Still Hope through some children and brothers who were on a door to door evangelism in the village in December 2015. She loves drawing and singing. Her dream is to become an architect when she grows up.
Mercyline is the 2nd born in a family of five children. She goes to school at Sino D.O.K Primary school. She is the guardianship of her step mother Sabina Akoth. Her father was a polygamist who had three wives. Unfortunately, all of them have died except Sabina who was left with eleven children (all orphans) to look after. She is a very poor widow and cannot afford to provide for all these many children. Last year she became very sick and has been bed-ridden. Mercyline was referred to Still Hope by the school head teacher after hearing about Still hope. She is a very polite, disciplined and bright young girl. Her dream is to become a doctor one day. She likes singing in church and reading story books.
Kevin is a total orphan who has been living under the guardianship of Antonina Achieng. He has been in Still Hope for the last two years. He is a born again and God-fearing young man. Both his father and mother died in the 2010 and 2012 respectively as a result of HIV/Aids. Antonina who is his step mother took him because he had no one to turn to, but being a widow with other six kids and just a peasant farmer, she could not take good care of all of them. Kevin was referred to Still Hope by their school head teacher who heard about it. His dream is to become a civil engineer one day, God willing. He is a very good footballer and a volleyballer.
Derrick is in upper class seven at Opondo primary school. His father died in the year 2001. He was a product of an affair between her mother and the man who inherited her. This was done to fulfil the laws of tradition in Luo community. A few years later his mother also started ailing from different diseases and later on died. He was left under the guardianship of his old grandmother to take care of him. The grandmother is a widow and sickling. Derrick is now very poor and vulnerable with no one to turn to except the grandmother. He was referred to still hope by one of their teachers from school. His dream is to become a teacher too one-day God willing.
He is the son of the late Joseph Ogutu Onyach and Caroline Akinyi Ogutu from Kotieno East Sub-location Oyugis. He’s the third born in a family six children. His father died on 1st May 2008 after battling with heart disease for many years. His mother became mentally handicapped after giving birth to their firth born. Currently Calvince is under the care of a good Samaritan called Pamela Auma. For two years he was a street boy before Pamela found her. Unfortunate the said guardian was diagnosed with lung cancer and has been bed-ridden since last year. Academically he is an average student but with great potential in him. He was referred to Still Hope by a friend of Pamela. Ever since he came God has changed his life. He received the Lord and was baptized. He’s now well-behaved and God-fearing. He likes playing soccer and singing. His dream is to become an electrician one-day God willing.
Franklin Kerry is the third born in a family of four children. He goes to school at Kosele primary school in lower class three. He is a partial orphan who lost his mother in the year 2010 as a result of Pneumonia. A few months later his father married another wife and disappeared from home to unknown destination, abandoning his family. After some months of serious search, he was found in Nairobi on the streets abusing drugs. He was brought back home but he was never the same. He had become so sick and addicted to drugs that he could neither stay and home nor care for his family. Currently he lives on the streets. Still hope found Franklin under the guardianship of his grandmother who is a widow, very poor and sickling. He is a very intelligent boy and also God fearing. His dream is to become a teacher one-day God willing. He is hopeful to find a destiny helper.
Emily is the second born in a family of three siblings. Her mother Milker Awuor Ochieng’ died in February 2009 when she was just a little girl of 4yrs old. Her father is still alive but cannot do anything since he became insane a few years after he married. After the death of the mother, Emily and her brothers went to stay with their old grandmother who had an on and off illness. In 2014 the grandmother passed away and left them desperate with no one to attend to them. The only uncle she had did not care for them, so they started to work for people who could give them a little food. By August 2014, life became so hard that they decided to beg on the streets of Oyugis for food, clothing and a shelter. Emily says her dream is to become a teacher when she grows up. She likes playing soccer, singing, fetching water and collecting firewood.
Lonny is a total orphan. His mother who was also an orphan gave birth to him after dropping out of school at grade 11 when she was 17 yrs old. Two years later the mother contracted HIV and Aids virus and died afterwards. After his mother’s death he was left in a lonely world with no brother, no uncle, no father, no grandmother nor grandmother. Walter Otieno, a Good Samaritan, found him so desperate and brought him to Still Hope orphanage. Lonny is a bright boy who loves playing soccer, singing and dancing. His dream is to become a doctor when he grows up.
Stephen is the first born in a family of three, born in North Kamagak . His mother died in 2005 after a long illness of tuberculosis (TB). She left two other children with their father who is physically handicapped and cannot do any productive job. Life became very harsh for him after the death of his mother who was the bread winner of that family. Many times Stephen was diagnosed with Typhoid due to poor living conditions. His younger sister and brother are staying with his aunt in a nearby centre. He was referred to Still Hope by his school head teacher. He loves playing soccer, reading story books and singing. His career dream is to become a teacher.
Sheila is the second born in a family of three children. Her father died in 2011 due to malaria and chest pain leaving the children with their mother. Later their mother abandoned them in the hands of their 70 year old grandmother who couldn’t provide for them even the basic needs. On visiting them at their home we realized that they had no proper food or medical attention. They had rashes all over their body due to poor living conditions and hygiene. They were referred to Still Hope by a local government official of the area (Chief). Sheila likes singing, reading and dancing. Her dream is to become a lawyer when she grows up.
Bernard is the 3rd born in a family three children. He lost his father 10 yrs ago when he was two years old. His mother was working at a bus station as a tout and his mother had no job. His grandmother took him a few years after his father’s death because their mother could not take care of all of them. He was referred to Still Hope center through one of the pastors in our church who visited their home. At school he’s doing well and his dream is to become a banker when he grows up.
Beverly is a partial orphan who was born in Homa Bay County in part of Asego that is their home land, just next to the lake. Beverly was among the first admitted to Still Hope orphanage center in Oyugis . Beverly is the first born in their family and they are three siblings. After the death of their father who was the sole provider of the family, they began a very tough life from which she was referred to Still Hope. Beverly loves the following activities: singing, reciting poems, playing football, and teaching in Sunday School. Beverly is looking forward to study through the university level.
Emmanuel Junior is the first born in their family, the only child. His father passed away when he was 2 years old after a prolonged illness. He was then left under the care of his mother who was very sick and then died in Oct of 2017. He was among the first children who were admitted at Still Hope in October 2014 due to the condition of his mother. He’s one of brightest kids at Still Hope who always is tops in his class. He loves reading, singing to God and is the best soccer player at Still Hope. His dream is to become a lawyer when he grows up.
Sylvia is the first born of three siblings in their family. Sylvia became a partial orphan after her father died two years ago as a result of HIV AIDS. After that Sylvia was left with her mother as the breadwinner of the family, but her mother had also been infected with HIV/AIDS. Due to this situation the mother could not provide basic needs for the family. Sylvia was referred to Still Hope center by their head teacher who realized that she needed help badly. Sylvia is doing well in her studies and is finally looking forward to be a lecturer.
Vera is the second born in a family four children. She lost both her father and mother in the 2011 and 2013 respectively due to HIV/AIDS. Almost all the members of her dad’s family have died including three uncles because of the same disease. Currently she’s only left with one aunt that is taking care of her other three brothers. Vera is a very intelligent young girl, well-disciplined and most importantly born again. Her dream is to become a computer engineer in the future. Vera is also praying and waiting for that person who God will use to help her reach her destiny. Currently she is a resident at Still Hope Centre. She likes athletics, playing netball and singing.
Lydia is the second born in a family of four. She was made a total orphan after the death of her parents who died of HIV/AIDS in the year 2006 and 2011 respectively. Due to that situation, Lydia and her four siblings were left vulnerable without anybody to take care of them. That is when she was referred to us by their head teacher who was aware of Still Hope. She is among the residential children of Still Hope center. In her academic work she is also among the best and she is looking forward to be a nurse at the end of her studies. She likes singing, playing volleyball and reading story books.
Laura is the second born in a family of three siblings. She became a partial orphan after the death of her father who died in 2004. Since then they were left in the hands of their mother as a peasant family. When we visited Laura and her family we had compassion on her due to their poor living conditions. She was referred to us by a pastor who was aware of Still Hope. She is now among the residential children in Still Hope center. In her academic work she is doing well and she is among the best and she is looking forward to be a judge at the end of her final studies. She loves singing, acting, drama in school and reading the Bible.
Mary is a total orphan who was living in the streets of Oyugis town. She lost both her parents in the year 2010 due to HIV/AIDS. She was found in the streets by a widow called Florence Anyango who took her as her own child. She took her to school and provided her with clothes, food, and shelter. Sadly, Florence also died last year leaving Mary with no one to help her. She was referred to Still Hope orphanage home by her school headmistress Madam Rebecca. She is a very bright girl who has been at the top of her class. Her dream is to become an engineer in the future. Above all she is born again, and loves singing and reading.
