Sheila was born out of wedlock in December 2011. Her late mother dropped out of school on primary grade six. She developed a serious complication after giving birth to Sheila and later died in October 2013. Since then Sheila has been leaving under the guardianship of elderly grandmother who is an old widow has an on and off sickness. Sheila is a very jovial bright girl who loves singing and dancing. Her dream is to become a teacher one day. She is trusting God for a sponsor who would help her achieve her dream of becoming a teacher.

Verah is the second born in a family of seven siblings. She is not an orphan but a very needy and vulnerable young girl, the daughter of one of the volunteers’ pastors at Still Hope Center. Both the parents are jobless and just peasant farmers. She was referred to the Centrer by one of the spiritual leaders in our church. Her dream is to become a teacher when she grows up. She likes singing, playing netball and fetching water. Her prayer is to find someone who can help her reach her destiny.

Sharon is the first born child in a family of four children. She lost her father who was the bread winner of the family several years ago when she was a little girl. They were then left under the guardianship of her mother who been sickly since their father went to be with the Lord. Sharon is very much disciplined, ambitious, and with vision. Her dream is to become a lawyer when she grows up. She likes reciting poems and singing and playing netball. Sharon is trusting God for her sponsor to make her dream a reality.

Caroline is the first born in a family of two siblings. She lost both her parents in 2007. Her father died in March and her mother followed two months later. She was left with her step -mother as the sole provider of the family. She later moved to stay with her aunt in Oyugis town where we found her living in a very poor condition with no job and no food since her Aunt became sick. Caroline is among the secondary boarding students of Still Hope center. Her academic work is so promising and we hope she will study up university level. She likes singing and participating in drama during her leisure time. Her dream is to become a lawyer.

Roseline lost her father in 2003 when she was 1-year-old according to the mother. Currently she is staying with her widowed mother who is very poor; she was just doing odd jobs to provide for her family. Now the mother is ailing and cannot do any work to earn income because she is paralyzed on one side. Roseline came to Still Hope through some children and brothers who were on a door to door evangelism in the village in December 2015. She loves drawing and singing. Her dream is to become an architect when she grows up.

Mercyline is the 2nd born in a family of five children. She goes to school at Sino D.O.K Primary school. She is the guardianship of her step mother Sabina Akoth. Her father was a polygamist who had three wives. Unfortunately, all of them have died except Sabina who was left with eleven children (all orphans) to look after. She is a very poor widow and cannot afford to provide for all these many children. Last year she became very sick and has been bed-ridden. Mercyline was referred to Still Hope by the school head teacher after hearing about Still hope. She is a very polite, disciplined and bright young girl. Her dream is to become a doctor one day. She likes singing in church and reading story books.

Kevin is a total orphan who has been living under the guardianship of Antonina Achieng. He has been in Still Hope for the last two years. He is a born again and God-fearing young man. Both his father and mother died in the 2010 and 2012 respectively as a result of HIV/Aids. Antonina who is his step mother took him because he had no one to turn to, but being a widow with other six kids and just a peasant farmer, she could not take good care of all of them. Kevin was referred to Still Hope by their school head teacher who heard about it. His dream is to become a civil engineer one day, God willing. He is a very good footballer and a volleyballer.

Derrick is in upper class seven at Opondo primary school. His father died in the year 2001. He was a product of an affair between her mother and the man who inherited her. This was done to fulfil the laws of tradition in Luo community. A few years later his mother also started ailing from different diseases and later on died. He was left under the guardianship of his old grandmother to take care of him. The grandmother is a widow and sickling. Derrick is now very poor and vulnerable with no one to turn to except the grandmother. He was referred to still hope by one of their teachers from school. His dream is to become a teacher too one-day God willing.

He is the son of the late Joseph Ogutu Onyach and Caroline Akinyi Ogutu from Kotieno East Sub-location Oyugis. He’s the third born in a family six children. His father died on 1st May 2008 after battling with heart disease for many years. His mother became mentally handicapped after giving birth to their firth born. Currently Calvince is under the care of a good Samaritan called Pamela Auma. For two years he was a street boy before Pamela found her. Unfortunate the said guardian was diagnosed with lung cancer and has been bed-ridden since last year. Academically he is an average student but with great potential in him. He was referred to Still Hope by a friend of Pamela. Ever since he came God has changed his life. He received the Lord and was baptized. He’s now well-behaved and God-fearing. He likes playing soccer and singing. His dream is to become an electrician one-day God willing.
