Franklin Kerry is the third born in a family of four children. He goes to school at Kosele primary school in lower class three. He is a partial orphan who lost his mother in the year 2010 as a result of Pneumonia. A few months later his father married another wife and disappeared from home to unknown destination, abandoning his family. After some months of serious search, he was found in Nairobi on the streets abusing drugs. He was brought back home but he was never the same. He had become so sick and addicted to drugs that he could neither stay and home nor care for his family. Currently he lives on the streets. Still hope found Franklin under the guardianship of his grandmother who is a widow, very poor and sickling. He is a very intelligent boy and also God fearing. His dream is to become a teacher one-day God willing. He is hopeful to find a destiny helper.

Emily is the second born in a family of three siblings. Her mother Milker Awuor Ochieng’ died in February 2009 when she was just a little girl of 4yrs old. Her father is still alive but cannot do anything since he became insane a few years after he married. After the death of the mother, Emily and her brothers went to stay with their old grandmother who had an on and off illness. In 2014 the grandmother passed away and left them desperate with no one to attend to them. The only uncle she had did not care for them, so they started to work for people who could give them a little food. By August 2014, life became so hard that they decided to beg on the streets of Oyugis for food, clothing and a shelter. Emily says her dream is to become a teacher when she grows up. She likes playing soccer, singing, fetching water and collecting firewood.

Lonny is a total orphan. His mother who was also an orphan gave birth to him after dropping out of school at grade 11 when she was 17 yrs old. Two years later the mother contracted HIV and Aids virus and died afterwards. After his mother’s death he was left in a lonely world with no brother, no uncle, no father, no grandmother nor grandmother. Walter Otieno, a Good Samaritan, found him so desperate and brought him to Still Hope orphanage. Lonny is a bright boy who loves playing soccer, singing and dancing. His dream is to become a doctor when he grows up.

Stephen is the first born in a family of three, born in North Kamagak . His mother died in 2005 after a long illness of tuberculosis (TB). She left two other children with their father who is physically handicapped and cannot do any productive job. Life became very harsh for him after the death of his mother who was the bread winner of that family. Many times Stephen was diagnosed with Typhoid due to poor living conditions. His younger sister and brother are staying with his aunt in a nearby centre. He was referred to Still Hope by his school head teacher. He loves playing soccer, reading story books and singing. His career dream is to become a teacher.

Sheila is the second born in a family of three children. Her father died in 2011 due to malaria and chest pain leaving the children with their mother. Later their mother abandoned them in the hands of their 70 year old grandmother who couldn’t provide for them even the basic needs. On visiting them at their home we realized that they had no proper food or medical attention. They had rashes all over their body due to poor living conditions and hygiene. They were referred to Still Hope by a local government official of the area (Chief). Sheila likes singing, reading and dancing. Her dream is to become a lawyer when she grows up.

Bernard is the 3rd born in a family three children. He lost his father 10 yrs ago when he was two years old. His mother was working at a bus station as a tout and his mother had no job. His grandmother took him a few years after his father’s death because their mother could not take care of all of them. He was referred to Still Hope center through one of the pastors in our church who visited their home. At school he’s doing well and his dream is to become a banker when he grows up.

Beverly is a partial orphan who was born in Homa Bay County in part of Asego that is their home land, just next to the lake. Beverly was among the first admitted to Still Hope orphanage center in Oyugis . Beverly is the first born in their family and they are three siblings. After the death of their father who was the sole provider of the family, they began a very tough life from which she was referred to Still Hope. Beverly loves the following activities: singing, reciting poems, playing football, and teaching in Sunday School. Beverly is looking forward to study through the university level.

Emmanuel Junior is the first born in their family, the only child. His father passed away when he was 2 years old after a prolonged illness. He was then left under the care of his mother who was very sick and then died in Oct of 2017. He was among the first children who were admitted at Still Hope in October 2014 due to the condition of his mother. He’s one of brightest kids at Still Hope who always is tops in his class. He loves reading, singing to God and is the best soccer player at Still Hope. His dream is to become a lawyer when he grows up.

Sylvia is the first born of three siblings in their family. Sylvia became a partial orphan after her father died two years ago as a result of HIV AIDS. After that Sylvia was left with her mother as the breadwinner of the family, but her mother had also been infected with HIV/AIDS. Due to this situation the mother could not provide basic needs for the family. Sylvia was referred to Still Hope center by their head teacher who realized that she needed help badly. Sylvia is doing well in her studies and is finally looking forward to be a lecturer.

Vera is the second born in a family four children. She lost both her father and mother in the 2011 and 2013 respectively due to HIV/AIDS. Almost all the members of her dad’s family have died including three uncles because of the same disease. Currently she’s only left with one aunt that is taking care of her other three brothers. Vera is a very intelligent young girl, well-disciplined and most importantly born again. Her dream is to become a computer engineer in the future. Vera is also praying and waiting for that person who God will use to help her reach her destiny. Currently she is a resident at Still Hope Centre. She likes athletics, playing netball and singing.
