Emily is the second born in a family of three siblings. Her mother Milker Awuor Ochieng’ died in February 2009 when she was just a little girl of 4yrs old. Her father is still alive but cannot do anything since he became insane a few years after he married. After the death of the mother, Emily and her brothers went to stay with their old grandmother who had an on and off illness. In 2014 the grandmother passed away and left them desperate with no one to attend to them. The only uncle she had did not care for them, so they started to work for people who could give them a little food. By August 2014, life became so hard that they decided to beg on the streets of Oyugis for food, clothing and a shelter. Emily says her dream is to become a teacher when she grows up. She likes playing soccer, singing, fetching water and collecting firewood.

Lydia is the second born in a family of four. She was made a total orphan after the death of her parents who died of HIV/AIDS in the year 2006 and 2011 respectively. Due to that situation, Lydia and her four siblings were left vulnerable without anybody to take care of them. That is when she was referred to us by their head teacher who was aware of Still Hope. She is among the residential children of Still Hope center. In her academic work she is also among the best and she is looking forward to be a nurse at the end of her studies. She likes singing, playing volleyball and reading story books.

Solomon is the second born in a family of two siblings He is 16 years old partial orphan. He lost his father when he was nine. His mother who is HIV/Aids positive is seriously sick and unable to take care of her family. Solomon has been living under the guardianship of his grandmother. He scored very good marks last year but could not join the high school of his merit because no one would pay for him school fees. So he decided to join a nearby day school whose standard is not very good. He had accumulated areas in the first and he was contemplating dropping out when schools resume in January next year. He is so talented in writing songs and singing, he is also a very good bible teacher and a footballer. His dream is to become a chemical Engineer or a lawyer one day. Your monthly support will ensure that Solomon gets good education, food and shelter. Above all she gets the opportunity to build his personality and to grow up in the knowledge and fear of God.

Laura is the second born in a family of three siblings. She became a partial orphan after the death of her father who died in 2004. Since then they were left in the hands of their mother as a peasant family. When we visited Laura and her family we had compassion on her due to their poor living conditions. She was referred to us by a pastor who was aware of Still Hope. She is now among the residential children in Still Hope center. In her academic work she is doing well and she is among the best and she is looking forward to be a judge at the end of her final studies. She loves singing, acting, drama in school and reading the Bible.

Derrick is in upper class seven at Opondo primary school. His father died in the year 2001. He was a product of an affair between her mother and the man who inherited her. This was done to fulfil the laws of tradition in Luo community. A few years later his mother also started ailing from different diseases and later on died. He was left under the guardianship of his old grandmother to take care of him. The grandmother is a widow and sickling. Derrick is now very poor and vulnerable with no one to turn to except the grandmother. He was referred to still hope by one of their teachers from school. His dream is to become a teacher too one-day God willing.

Dorothy is the first borne in a family of two siblings. His brother is called Vincent Otieno. Dorothy is under the guardianship of her father who is not able to provide or take care of the family due to some mental disorder. Her father is a strong drug addict and his condition has exposed Dorothy and Vincent to a lot of risks. Many times, they survive through well wishers who sometimes show compassion on them and offer them food. Sometimes they can go survive even on water a one when there’s no food. Vincent his brother is already sponsored at Still hope. She is a good fearing well behaved girl and with some support she can still make it in life. She never misses Church every Sunday. She is trusting God for a sponsor who would support her with basic needs and education.

Mary is a total orphan who was living in the streets of Oyugis town. She lost both her parents in the year 2010 due to HIV/AIDS. She was found in the streets by a widow called Florence Anyango who took her as her own child. She took her to school and provided her with clothes, food, and shelter. Sadly, Florence also died last year leaving Mary with no one to help her. She was referred to Still Hope orphanage home by her school headmistress Madam Rebecca. She is a very bright girl who has been at the top of her class. Her dream is to become an engineer in the future. Above all she is born again, and loves singing and reading.

Kevin is a total orphan who has been living under the guardianship of Antonina Achieng. He has been in Still Hope for the last two years. He is a born again and God-fearing young man. Both his father and mother died in the 2010 and 2012 respectively as a result of HIV/Aids. Antonina who is his step mother took him because he had no one to turn to, but being a widow with other six kids and just a peasant farmer, she could not take good care of all of them. Kevin was referred to Still Hope by their school head teacher who heard about it. His dream is to become a civil engineer one day, God willing. He is a very good footballer and a volleyballer.

Roseline lost her father in 2003 when she was 1-year-old according to the mother. Currently she is staying with her widowed mother who is very poor; she was just doing odd jobs to provide for her family. Now the mother is ailing and cannot do any work to earn income because she is paralyzed on one side. Roseline came to Still Hope through some children and brothers who were on a door to door evangelism in the village in December 2015. She loves drawing and singing. Her dream is to become an architect when she grows up.

He is the son of the late Joseph Ogutu Onyach and Caroline Akinyi Ogutu from Kotieno East Sub-location Oyugis. He’s the third born in a family six children. His father died on 1st May 2008 after battling with heart disease for many years. His mother became mentally handicapped after giving birth to their firth born. Currently Calvince is under the care of a good Samaritan called Pamela Auma. For two years he was a street boy before Pamela found her. Unfortunate the said guardian was diagnosed with lung cancer and has been bed-ridden since last year. Academically he is an average student but with great potential in him. He was referred to Still Hope by a friend of Pamela. Ever since he came God has changed his life. He received the Lord and was baptized. He’s now well-behaved and God-fearing. He likes playing soccer and singing. His dream is to become an electrician one-day God willing.
