Wendy is not a total orphan but she is in desperate need for help. Both her parents are a live but mentally challenged. They are not able to care for Wendy as parents considering the fact that they just wonder in the village and local streets asking for food. One day her mother brought her to Still Hope Orphanage and dumped her there. We did a follow up to their home only to find an empty house with nothing except stones which were scattered all over the floor. We had no option but to keep her at the orphanage. Currently she’s going to school with other kids at Migwa primary School at grade two and she resides at the orphanage. Her dream is to become a school teacher one day. She likes dancing and singing. He is the last born in a family of three children. He’s a total orphan who currently under the care of his grandmother who is very old. He is in grade four at Nyalenda Primary School. His Father died on 25th Feb 2010 when he was barely two, while his mother died in June 2018. His two Elder sisters Marion and Sheilah had already been taken by still Hope in 2014. He has been faced by challenges such us lack of school fees, poor nutrition, clothing and shelter. He is a very bright boy both at school and back home. Velma is the first born in a family of two. She is 16 yrs old in grade 6. She has a younger sister called Esther Ann. She has been raised by a single mother (BentaAdhiambo) who is living in abject poverty and jobless too. Her Father disappeared and abandoned them in the slams of Kisumu when she was 2 years. She actually can’t remember the face of her father. Our assessment revealed that Velma being a girl living in the slums characterized with early pregnancy, school drop outs, and poor healthcare was exposed to a lot of risks that would hinder her growth, education and personality. Her dream is to become a nurse one day. She likes singing, dancing and reading. Your monthly support will ensure that Velma gets good education, food and shelter. Above all she gets the opportunity to build her personality and to grow up in the knowledge and fear of God.

Vanily is a partial orphan who is living under the care of her sick mother Judith Achieng. Her mother has been bed ridden for the past two years. She can neither walk nor work to provided for her family. Vanily’s father passed on in 2011 when she was only two years old. Currently being the only child, she is the one playing the role of the mother and father to provide for her sick mother. She has been missing classes in several occasions at school due to lack of money to pay for her exams. This is according to her teacher. She was referred to Still Hope by the local government official known as the chief. She likes singing and playing soccer too. Her prayer is to get someone who will lead her to her destiny.

Sheila was born out of wedlock in December 2011. Her late mother dropped out of school on primary grade six. She developed a serious complication after giving birth to Sheila and later died in October 2013. Since then Sheila has been leaving under the guardianship of elderly grandmother who is an old widow has an on and off sickness. Sheila is a very jovial bright girl who loves singing and dancing. Her dream is to become a teacher one day. She is trusting God for a sponsor who would help her achieve her dream of becoming a teacher.

Verah is the second born in a family of seven siblings. She is not an orphan but a very needy and vulnerable young girl, the daughter of one of the volunteers’ pastors at Still Hope Center. Both the parents are jobless and just peasant farmers. She was referred to the Centrer by one of the spiritual leaders in our church. Her dream is to become a teacher when she grows up. She likes singing, playing netball and fetching water. Her prayer is to find someone who can help her reach her destiny.

Sharon is the first born child in a family of four children. She lost her father who was the bread winner of the family several years ago when she was a little girl. They were then left under the guardianship of her mother who been sickly since their father went to be with the Lord. Sharon is very much disciplined, ambitious, and with vision. Her dream is to become a lawyer when she grows up. She likes reciting poems and singing and playing netball. Sharon is trusting God for her sponsor to make her dream a reality.

Caroline is among the secondary boarding students of Still Hope center. Her academic work is so promising and we hope she will study up university level. She likes singing and participating in drama during her leisure time. Her dream is to become a lawyer.

Roseline lost her father in 2003 when she was 1-year-old according to the mother. Currently she is staying with her widowed mother who is very poor; she was just doing odd jobs to provide for her family. Now the mother is ailing and cannot do any work to earn income because she is paralyzed on one side. Roseline came to Still Hope through some children and brothers who were on a door to door evangelism in the village in December 2015. She loves drawing and singing. Her dream is to become an architect when she grows up.
