Lilian is a total orphan was born in a village known as Kagan West; she comes from a family of four siblings where she is the second born. She lost both her parents when she was 8 years old in 2012, and she was left under the guardianship of her grandmother who is a widow and cannot provide for her anymore. Lilian was referred to Still Hope center through their area chief. She likes storytelling and singing. She has finished high school and now waiting to join college next month. She is hoping to be a nurse; she is also praying to get a sponsor by God’s grace.

Laura is the second born in a family of three siblings. She became a partial orphan after the death of her father who died in 2004. Since then they were left in the hands of their mother as a peasant family. When we visited Laura and her family we had compassion on her due to their poor living conditions. She was referred to us by a pastor who was aware of Still Hope. She is now among the residential children in Still Hope center. In her academic work she is doing well and she is among the best and she is looking forward to be a judge at the end of her final studies. She loves singing, acting, drama in school and reading the Bible.

Laura Atieno was born out of wed-lock when her mother dropped out of high school at form three. Her mother late died when in 2009 when she joined a teaching college in her first year. She was referred to Still Hope by her school head teacher who heard about still hope. She likes singing and playing girls’ soccer. Both his father and mother died in the 2010 and 2012 respectively as a result of HIV/Aids. Antonina who is his step mother took him because he had no one to turn to, but being a widow with other six kids and just a peasant farmer, she could not take good care of all of them. Kevin was referred to Still Hope by their school head teacher who heard about it. His dream is to become a civil engineer one day, God willing. He is a very good footballer and a volleyballer.

John is a partial orphan living under the guardianship of his mother who is sick and also drug addict. He joined still hope 7 years ago. His father died due to HIV/AIDS in 2003 when he was only three years old. We found Kirkwood in a very pathetic situation with no one to take good care of him. Even getting a daily meal according to him would come by chance. In most cases he used ask for food from the neighborhood. His mother drinks too much that she doesn’t care about him anymore. He was referred to still hope by their school head teacher who is a friend to still hope. Currently he’s in Form three at Saye Boys High School. Kirkwood's dream is to become a great teacher like his late father. He loves playing soccer, singing and reading story books. He’s also trusting God for a sponsor.

His grandmother took them since that time but life has not been easy for them. Jeremiah together with her sister has been the main breadwinner in the family despite their age. Jeremiah was referred to Still hoping by their school headteacher who got concerned when he started missing school. He’s trusting God for someone to support him reach his destiny of becoming a lawyer. He likes playing soccer, playing drama, and singing in Church.

Jeff is the last born in a family of two, his elder sister is called Sheryl Achieng, he was never lucky to see his father who died when Jeff was a little boy of 1yr old. Sheryl told us that the family of their father did not want their mother, after some period their uncles sent them and their mother away. They left home and came to the streets. They found one old abandoned house in the street where they took shelter, but after a while,the mother got very sick, they had no money to treat her and that’s when Jeff and his sister went to the streets to beg for food and money. Life became so harsh on them when their sick mother disappeared and abandoned them on the streets. Up to date they still don’t know the whereabouts of their mother. One day as they were begging as usual they came across a woman called Neriah, a member of our Church who was running a small hotel in town. Neriah gave them food, showed them love, and told them to become every day whenever they need food. With time they became so used to Nereah but she could not live with them because she was also a widow with over six children. She came and told us about Jeff and Sheryl and that’s how we got them to still hope Centre. Jeff likes playing soccer, dancing, and singing too. He wants to be an engineer when he grows of age while Sheryl’s desired carrier is to be a nurse.
